When is couples therapy not indicated?Couples therapy may not be suitable if any of the partner is not willing to give up ongoing abuse, severe mental illness that isn’t being treated, if one partner is unwilling to participate or having an acitive extra marital relationship that they aren't willing to give up. In such cases, individual therapy or other interventions might be more appropriate.
